MINUTES OF ANKUR GENERAL BODY MEETING OF January 18, 2008:

ANNUAL GENERAL BODY MEETING OF ANKUR FOR YEAR 2007
Date: January 18, 2008 at 7.00pm at Ankur Hall

Ankur General Body meeting agenda was distributed along with annual financial report of BOT/OC for year 2007 to members.

1. At 7.15pm, Nutan Shah, BOT secretary announced that the meeting will come to order. Since there was not the required quorum per Ankur constitution, the meeting was postponed for one hour to meet Ankur constitution provisions after which members present will form the quorum and the meeting can proceed.
In the meantime, a delicious dinner was served courtsey of Jyoti Mehta, Bharti Noticewala, Jyoti Patel, Meena Shah and Nutan Shah. Nutan thanked all the dinner volunteers when the meeting was started at 8.20pm.

2. Rashmikant Patel, BOT chairman, welcomed all Ankur members and thanked them for their continued support for year 2007. He wished to talk about Ankur unsung heroes. This is a group of Ankur ladies serving lunch at Drop-Inn Center for the homeless, every second Wednesday of the month. They will be completing five year of selfless service at Drop-Inn Center in July or August of this year. He presented a plaque, thanking them for their selfless service, goodwill in their hearts for Ankur and their time, to each of the following Ankur ladies-
Julie Desai, Shilpa Desai, Sushila Mehta, Bharti Noticewala, Asha Parikh, Jyoti Patel, Kumud Patel and Uma Shah.
[These plaques were approved by BOT.]

Then he presented Chairman's award, a plaque, to each of the following Ankur members for their voluntary service to Ankur and its members-
Jyoti Hegde for her undaunted spirit in establishing and continuing Pranayam class free to Ankur members.
Kirti Parikh for keeping OC account books for year 2007. She was not OC member for 2007.
Anami Patel for setting up and keeping up to date Ankur member log data base.
Amul and Smruti Shukla for their selfless service to Ankur community.

3. OC president, Kishore Mehta, thanked all Ankur members for their help and support.

4. BOT/OC treasurer's report was prepared by Rashmikant, as the BOT treasurer, Nalin Mehta, had resigned earlier in November, 2007. Rashmikant touched on the report briefly. Question was raised about EE bonds. He explained that $10,000 worth EE bonds were cashed as funds were needed for current BOT account's needs. Ankur has earned $1,112 for these bonds, after paying 10% penalty for earlier withdrawal (before five year period).

5. Education Committee will give their report summary in newsletter per Jayesh Mehta, one of three members of the committee.

6. Financial Reports by Ankur Members Groups-
A. Bridge club- no report was presented. Hardas Rathod, a member, explained that every Bridge Club member donates $65 to Ankur every year. They have a sort of petty cash account to defray the costs of drinks, snacks etc.
B. Yoga Class- no report was presented.
C. Pranayam Class- Jyoti Hegde informed the members that the classes were free and so no money was involved.
D. Sanskrit Class- Nutan Shah presented that the tuition fee paid to Sharmaji was collected amongst members and no expense was incurred by Ankur.
7. BOT/OC Election for year 2008

a. All BOT (5 total) positions were open. Rashmikant's term had expired, Nalin resigned earlier, Nutan resigned at end of 2007, Bharti resigned at the meeting. One post was open during 2007.
b. OC. Kishore Mehta, Raj Agarwal, Jyoti Mehta will continue on OC. That left six positions open.
c. After delay and discussions among members, the following members were nominated for OC committee-
Girish Amin, Chandu Budev, Jyoti Parikh and Nita Parikh.

There were no additional nominations from the floor. All the nominated members for OC were elected by all members voting yes.
d. After delay and discussions among members, the following members were nominated for BOT committee-
Kishore Desai, Dorothy Joshi, Jagdish Mistry, Raj Mistry, and Pankaj Patel.
There were no additional nominations from the floor. All the nominated members for BOT were elected by all members voting yes.

8. General Body Discussion.

Members discussed about present alliance with Hindu Temple for Navratri, Diwali celebrations. Holding special Sharad Purnima garba, monthly dinners and entertainment combined.
